Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is the most widely used and accepted security technology available today. SSL ensures
that any data sent between your browser and our web site is securely transmitted over the internet using
powerful encryption technology. Not all the data transmitted between your browser and our web site needs to be
secure, such as, when you are just browser through products in our store or reading articles from our web site.
For this reason a small padlock icon, located at the bottom right hand side of your web browser, is displayed to
identify that a connection is secure and your data is being protected.
If you double click on the padlock icon it will display our web sites digital certificate which is required in
order to create a secure connection. Our digital certificate is issued by GeoTrust and appears as below :-
The SSL Security Info Box, displayed at the bottom of the right hand column, will also identify a
secure connection.
When ever you are logged into your account our store automatically creates a secure connection to protect your
sensitive data. When you make a purchase your Credit Card information is also protected using a secure connection
by our Credit Card Clearing House.
What is a GeoTrust Seal?
A GeoTrust Seal is a dynamically created "Smart Seal" that is displayed on our web pages. Below is a sample Seal
and an actual Seal. The actual Seal is clickable :-
The Seal automatically identifies our site as genuine, authentic, and validated by an independent and trusted
third party. In our case, the independent and trusted third party is GeoTrust.
A key feature of the Seal is the embedded "real-time" date/time stamp that cannot be recreated as a static image.
The "real-time" date/time is presented in Greenwich Mean Time, abbreviated GMT. The current date/time is 21-Nov-08 17:01 GMT. The date/time stamp provides quick and easy visual identification.
When you click on the GeoTrust Seal the following information is presented in a popup window :-
