Return to Base Vs On-Site Next Business Day
A Return to Base (RTB) Warranty is exactly that, it requires you to return your faulty product to the
manufacturer for repair. In general, you are responsible for the shipping costs to and from the
manufacturer. Unless otherwise stated, all manufacturers warranties are RTB.
An On-site Next Business Day Warranty means that a service person will come out to your location to
try to repair what ever problem you may be having and promises to make that service call on the next
business day. A repair can take longer then one day and depends on the nature of the problem.
In general, On-Site Next Business Day is handled by a third party warranty company that is authorised
by the manufacturer to carry out the repairs. This type of Warranty (On-Site Next Business Day) is
very attractive to have as there is no cost to you when a repair is required.
At Better Computers we always specify if a Warranty is On-Site Next Business Day as
this is the best type of Warranty to have.
Extended Warranties
An Extended Warranty is the purchase of an extra Warranty period and is usually purchased at the
same time that you buy your hardware. The Extended Warranty can be either RTB or On-Site Next
Business Day. RTB is usually direct from the manufacturer and On-Site Next Business Day is from
an authorised third party warranty company selected by the manufacturer. The extra period can
range from 1 to 3 years.
When an Extended Warranty is available for a product that Better Computers sells, then we do included the Extended
Warranty as an optional extra that you can purchase.
1 In some cases there is no Australian Manufacturer, instead there is an Australian Distributor
or Importer. In this case the Australian Distributor or Importer provides the Manufacturers Warranty.
